Roberto De Zerbi’s side is everything this United team is not at the moment: exciting, slick, cohesive, fast-paced and inventive. But perhaps the worst part of the defeat for United fans is that it wasn’t all that surprising. Boos rang out around Old Trafford at the end of the match – even when new signing Rasmus Højlund was substituted for Anthony Martial after 64 minutes. “We have to be very disappointed and annoyed at ourselves,” ten Hag told reporters. Former United striker Danny Welbeck came back to haunt his old club on Saturday.

Fightbacks were the order of the day as Liverpool recovered from falling behind to win 3-1 at Wolverhampton Wanderers in the early kickoff and two goals deep into stoppage time earned Tottenham Hotspur a 2-1 win over Sheffield United. After another tumultuous week off the pitch for Manchester United, the club needed the players to lift their supporters. United fell behind in the 20th minute when Danny Welbeck slotted home against his former club when left unmarked in the penalty area. "Definitely that (losing three from five for the first time in Premier League history) is something that bothers me, but also I have to seen the way we play," coach Erik ten Hag said. Tottenham were heading for their first Premier League defeat under Ange Postecoglou as they trailed to Gustavo Hamer's goal against the run of play in the 75th minute.

The victory was some measure of revenge for Brighton, who lost to Manchester United on penalties in their FA Cup semi-final 11 days ago. Brighton continued to press forward looking for a winner, with substitute Solly March and MacAllister both forcing superb saves from De Gea as the clock ticked towards 90 minutes. "Really happy and delighted for the performance and result," Brighton coach Roberto de Zerbi told Sky Sports. "There is a God of football - we deserved to win the (FA Cup) semi-final but lost on penalties, but today we won with a penalty."
LONDON, April 15 (Reuters) - Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland reached yet another milestone in his incredible debut season in the Premier League when his two goals helped his side to beat Leicester City 3-1 and move to within three points of leaders Arsenal on Saturday. With Arsenal in action at West Ham United on Sunday, Manchester City seized their chance to apply more pressure by dismantling 19th-placed Leicester before halftime. City now have 70 points from 30 games with Arsenal on 73. Villa have 50 points, with Tottenham on 53 and fourth-placed Manchester United and Newcastle United both on 56. Newcastle and Manchester United, who face Nottingham Forest on Sunday, have played fewer games than Villa and Tottenham.

BRIGHTON, England, Jan 14 (Reuters) - Brighton & Hove Albion winger Solly March netted twice early in the second half and set up another goal in a 3-0 home win over a sluggish Liverpool on Saturday that lifts them above the Reds to seventh in the Premier League standings. The victory was Brighton's first over Liverpool in the top flight and they deserved to take all three points once March helped them convert their dominance in possession into goals. Undeterred, March gave his side the lead in the 47th minute as teenaged striker Evan Ferguson pressured the Liverpool defence into a mistake and Brighton won the ball high up the pitch. The win means Brighton have 30 points from 18 games, two ahead of Liverpool who have struggled with form and injuries, with Reds boss Juergen Klopp blaming a lack of organisation for the result. England forward Rashford completed the turnaround eight minutes from time to score for the seventh successive match in all competitions, the first United player to do so since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008. City were furious the goal was awarded after a VAR review, with Rashford initially flagged offside before letting Fernandes take the shot ahead of him. We'll celebrate a big win but from tomorrow our focus has to be on the next game." Brighton picked up their first home league victory against Liverpool since January 1961 as they climbed above their opponents into seventh. The same players played outstanding football matches before but if things aren't properly organised then it can look like that.

Soccer Football - Premier League - Brighton & Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest - The American Express Community Stadium, Brighton, Britain - October 18, 2022 Nottingham Forest's Dean Henderson in action REUTERS/Tony Obrien EDITORIAL USE ONLY. BRIGHTON, England, Oct 18 (Reuters) - Brighton and Hove Albion failed to score for the third Premier League game in succession as they were held to a 0-0 draw at home by struggling Nottingham Forest on Tuesday. Roberto De Zerbi's side dominated throughout but lacked a cutting edge as Forest hung on for a gritty point. The first top-flight meeting between the sides since 1983 was hardly a classic as Brighton suffered a frustrating night in their 200th Premier League fixture. Tariq Lamptey and Pascal Gross both had good opportunities after the break for Brighton while Forest rarely managed an attack and failed to register an effort on target.
